Frugal Fashion: Maxi Birthday

So I'm officially 30 LOL. It feels good. There's no feelings of unaccomplished things or where I should be. I'm just happy and blessed to see another birthday and be healthy both physically and mentally. For my birthday an old "friend" of mine called me up and took me out for drinks and a meal in NoDa. It's a little section in Charlotte that reminds me of the West Village back home in NYC. Well nothing compares to home but the artsy feel of NoDa makes me feel like I'm close to home lol. I had a blast and wore a maxi dress for the first time ever. I've always hated long dresses because I'm so short and I feel like I look even shorter. But it was like 100 degrees outside and denims were not an option.

Frugal Fashion: Out & About

July 12th is my birthday. The big 3-0. So we decided to hang out this past Saturday night since mostly of my friends and family will be out of town this weekend. We hit up Luna Lounge. Didn't stay long because of some undesirable things I saw in there LOL. After that we hit up the Savoy. I never see any cute guys in there but the music is on point. I just loved my dress. The bust area was very 1950's style with the pointy breast look. Very classic. Plus the print on the dress was just gorgeous. I felt a more strappy shoe would of went better with this dress but I couldn't find a cute pair on sale at the last minute. I think I still looked hot tho :-)

Shoes: $5 Target  Clearance

Close up of the print. The lace around the bust area is what sold me

Frugal Fashion: I See Through You

Super cute outfit that I wore while hanging out with my big sis. I've noticed that I' getting a little bit bolder with my tops since I lost 12 pounds. I've put some pounds on and have been feeling a bit uncomfortable in my clothes and needed to take care of that. Sometimes it's not about being slim. It's about being comfortable in your skin. So far so good. Smaller Portion = Lower Calories is the best way to go in my opinion. Ok, so back to this outfit post LOL.

Frugal Fashion: Basics

I have a thing for pencil skirts. I think they are way sexier than mini skirts. Or maybe it's just the older lady in me talking lol. I just think a pencil skirt brings a bit of vintage class to any outfit. I wish it was a little bit tighter but when your thrift shopping there aren't other size options for a particular item lol.

Statements

Every Christmas my family does Secret Santa. All the adults pull names out of a bag and the kids do the same. Adults pull adults and kids pull kids. The day after Christmas we all get together to eat and exchange gifts. This year my sister was my Secret Santa. Who better than your sister to get your gift? lol... She knew I was eying some statement necklaces in Target for a while but I was waiting for them to hit the clearance rack.  I wasn't about to pay full price for them ($39.99). Well I never caught them on the clearance rack but she found them on targets website clearance. I just love these pieces and wanted to show them off lol.

Broach. I love it

Frugal Fashion: Vintage Coat

Not sure what I was pointing at.
Yea Buddy!!! lol... I mentioned in one of my wants and needs post that I was looking for and found a vintage coat. Well here it is :-)... My mom mentioned a thrift store that had a little vintage clothing section. As soon as I heard that we were in the car and on our way there lol. By the way my moms is a thrift store regular like me. She mostly shops for household items though. I love this coat because it is so warm and so me.

Frugal Fashion: Red & Black Lumberjack (no hat to match lol)

In one of my previous needs and wants post I stated that a lumberjack shirt was on my list. I was unable to find a red and black one in any thrift stores and I wasn't paying full price for it lol. So while shopping in the boys sections of Target I saw this shirt for $5. I grabbed an XL and prayed that it would fit lol. Well I made it work. I love the way you can take a boyish shirt, add some pumps and make it look sexy.

Frugal Fashion: Black & Red

I call this my freddy kruger dress. Actually anything black and red I call freddy kruger. I know I'm not logic. The dress felt like it was missing something so I borrowed the black belt from another dress. I never wear red anything. Maybe I need to play with this color a little more.

Frugal Fashion: Touch of Green

So orginally I had on a brown shirt with this outfit and when I looked in the mirror I was disgusted with myself lol. Why am I so afraid of color? That's what I asked myself. So I decided to change the game up and throw in a little green. I think it worked out well. As far as this color thing. I'm getting the hang of it lol. Thrifting allows me to buy things I wouldn't normally wear because with the cheap prices I'm willing to take more chances when purchasing lol.

Frugal Fashion: Vested

So I'm not one to wear a sweater vest because I'm a bit bulky up top but when I saw this at the Goodwill I figured why not give it a try lol. I looked a bit too boyish so I decided to throw on a blazer to style it up a bit lol.
